Overview

 

EXPLEO GROUP USA is looking for an Environmental Validation Engineer to join a dynamic and expanding team in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Review and analyze test service requests and customer specifications in collaboration with Product Project Team Members and Quality PTMs, challenging requirements and defining the final validation strategy.
  • Develop detailed validation plans and test specifications that satisfy customer requirements while ensuring compliance with internal quality objectives.
  • Define requirements for specialized test equipment, characterization benches, reliability test setups, and associated validation budgets.
  • Schedule and coordinate validation activities while managing laboratory resources, including technicians, test equipment, tools, and facilities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between customers, project teams, and global validation laboratories for all environmental validation activities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to identify design improvements and ensure product performance and reliability targets are achieved.
  • Manage tested part configurations, logistics, and traceability throughout validation activities.
  • Lead Validation FMEA activities and contribute to software, hardware, and product design reviews.
  • Participate in technical problem-solving activities, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation.
  • Oversee laboratory planning, test resource allocation, and validation cost management.
  • Support and govern test setup, verification, and execution using environmental validation equipment including thermal chambers, ingress protection (IP) test systems, and associated laboratory tools.
  • Collaborate with Methods & Tools teams to develop and improve validation processes, automated testing solutions, and test environments supporting Design Validation (DV) and Process Validation (PV).
  • Oversee test script development activities utilizing National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand platforms.
  • Ensure all validation activities comply with automotive quality standards and engineering processes, including ASPICE and IATF/ISO requirements.
  • Generate detailed test reports, conduct peer reviews, monitor validation progress, and communicate status updates to project stakeholders.
  • Lead problem management activities by coordinating customer communications, failure investigations, defect tracking, and cross-functional review meetings.
  • Drive laboratory efficiency improvements by reducing test cycle times, enhancing automation, and improving validation methodologies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to lessons learned activities across multiple projects.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, such as Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Test Engineering, Validation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing and executing validation plans within automotive, electronics, or related industries.
  • Proficiency with National Instruments LabVIEW and/or TestStand. LabVIEW certification is highly preferred.
  • Programming experience using Python, Java, C, C++, or related languages.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and hardware interfaces including PXI, PCI, USB, RS232, and GPIB.
  • Understanding of automotive electronic systems and test & validation methodologies.
  • Experience with environmental validation and accelerated life testing.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documentation, engineering drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with ASPICE, IATF 16949, ISO standards, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, failure analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global, and cross-functional environment.
  • Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or equivalent National Instruments certification.
  • Experience with automated test benches and test process automation.
  • Knowledge of embedded software, electronics validation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing environments.
  • Experience supporting global engineering and validation programs.
