MRB Design Engineer IV-VI
Location: Wichita, KS (On-site, Office-Based Role)
💰 Pay Range: $57.00 - $90.00+ per hour
💰 Sign-On Bonus: $3,000 after 90 days of successful employment
🎯 Retention Bonus: $5,000 after 12 months of employment
Position Overview
Expleo Group USA is seeking experienced MRB Design Engineers (Levels IV-VI) to provide advanced engineering expertise, technical leadership, and Material Review Board (MRB) disposition support across aerospace manufacturing programs.
This office-based role is focused on complex engineering evaluations, innovative repair development, technical authority, and strategic problem-solving through documentation-based MRB analysis and disposition. Opportunities are available for highly experienced engineers, recognized subject matter experts, and industry-leading technical authorities capable of resolving critical nonconformance challenges while influencing engineering standards, organizational capability, and long-term technical strategy.
Depending on experience, demonstrated technical expertise, leadership capability, and business needs, candidates may be considered for Level IV, V, or VI.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the evaluation, analysis, and disposition of complex aerospace nonconformances
- Develop innovative repair and rework solutions considering fit, form, function, airworthiness, cost, and schedule
- Assess structural impacts and ensure compliance with engineering, regulatory, and customer requirements
- Serve as a technical authority in cross-functional and customer-facing engagements
- Collaborate with Design, Stress, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams to resolve complex technical issues
- Provide technical justification and supporting documentation for MRB decisions
- Define, enhance, and standardize MRB processes, practices, and engineering methodologies
- Drive technical consistency, compliance, and engineering excellence across programs
- Support audits, program reviews, and regulatory compliance initiatives
- Mentor engineers and help develop organizational technical capability
- Lead resolution of critical and unprecedented engineering challenges requiring advanced technical judgment
- Develop and implement new engineering concepts, repair methodologies, and technical standards
- Influence technical strategy, innovation initiatives, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement activities
- Serve as a technical representative with customers, regulatory agencies, senior leadership, and other stakeholders as appropriate to level

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Degree must be from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent program recognized under the Washington Accord
- Extensive aerospace engineering and/or MRB experience supporting commercial or military aircraft programs
- Strong expertise in metallic and composite aircraft structures
- Advanced ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements
- Knowledge of airworthiness requirements, regulatory compliance, and engineering best practices
- Proficiency with SAP NCMS or similar nonconformance management systems
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills
Preferred
- Previous MRB signing authority or delegated technical approval experience
- Significant experience supporting Boeing commercial aircraft programs, particularly the 737 and/or 787 platforms, or comparable aircraft programs
- CATIA V5 experience for model and drawing interrogation
- Prior DOA experience, concessions training, TIPQA, or equivalent experience
- Experience leading complex technical decisions and influencing cross-functional stakeholders
Experience Guidelines by Level
Level IV
- Typically 9-13 years of aerospace and/or MRB engineering experience
- Recognized subject matter expert capable of independently resolving highly complex nonconformances and providing technical leadership across programs
Level V
- Typically 14+ years of aerospace and/or MRB engineering experience
- Technical authority with demonstrated experience influencing engineering standards, program strategy, compliance, and organizational capability
Level VI
- Typically 20+ years of aerospace and/or MRB engineering experience
- Industry-recognized expert with proven experience developing advanced engineering concepts, methodologies, technical standards, and long-term engineering strategy
Work Schedules
Multiple schedules are available based on program requirements, including:
- Day shifts
- Night shifts
- Weekend shifts
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $57.00 - $90.00+ per hour
- Level placement (IV, V, or VI) will be determined during the evaluation and selection process based on a candidate's qualifications, technical expertise, relevant experience, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and overall alignment with business and program requirements
- Final compensation will be commensurate with the assigned level, experience, skills, certifications, market conditions, and geographic considerations
- $3,000 sign-on bonus after 90 days of successful employment
- $5,000 retention bonus after 12 months of employment
